This Cookie Policy explains how Material Trader ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to improve their efficiency, and to provide information to the site owners. We also use related technologies such as your browser's local storage to remember your choices — for example, your cookie consent preference.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies
These are essential for the website to function. They include cookies that keep you signed in, secure your session, maintain the contents of your basket, and remember your region. The website cannot work properly without them, so they do not require consent.
Functional cookies
These remember choices you make to improve your experience, such as your cookie preferences and display settings.
Analytics
Where enabled, these help us understand how visitors use the marketplace — such as which pages are viewed and broad traffic trends — so we can improve it. They are first-party and privacy-respecting: the data is anonymous and aggregated, and is only collected if you choose “Accept all”. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell your data or build a profile of your activity on other websites.
Managing your choice
When you first visit Material Trader, the banner at the bottom of the screen lets you choose Accept all (essential cookies plus anonymous usage analytics) or Required only (just the essential cookies). Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage, and you can change it at any time from the “Cookie Preferences” option in your account settings, or by clearing your browser's site data to make the banner reappear.
Most web browsers also let you control cookies through their settings. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) provides further guidance on cookies and how to manage them.
